Cut off mark is the mark set by the authority or board that conducts an exam, which is considered as the passing or clearing level of the exam.

Cut off varies for different exams, it varies with availability of vacancies and competition level.
Here is an example to illustrate what a cut of mark is.
If there are ten persons writing an exam to become a clerk in a bank but the total Vacancy is 2, so the bank needs to eliminate some candidates and retain few for next level of selection say interview, so they put up a cut off which is probably an above average mark for the exam conducted thus eliminating few low scorers and selecting others for next level. Official UNIJOS Cut Off Mark 2020
The official JAMB and Post-UTME cut off mark for UNIJOS is 180. Following the scrapping of Post-UTME by federal government, the Joints Admission and Matriculation board (JAMB) had given a bench mark of 180 and above for candidates applying for Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges of Education. For this reason, UNIJOS has followed suit to place their cut off mark at 180.
But the question that might be bordering you remains: what about those that had 180 and above but were not still given the admission to study their desired courses?
You have to know this; candidates with higher scores are first considered; in admission basics, candidates with lower scores though might meet the cut off mark of 180 may likely not be admitted. In fact, it is the higher your scores, the higher the chance of being admitted.
UNIJOS Departmental Cut-off Mark 2020
Most Universities, including the University of Jos, UNIJOS does not really have a specific cut off mark for courses. Nevertheless, prospective candidates who have scored a minimum of 180 in UTME examination are deem eligible to apply for admission for any of their choice courses.
Mode Of Admission Screening In UNIJOS 2020
The University of Jos organizes her annual student screening exercises within a week or some couple of weeks. This usually come i two phases. Students who applied to study are to make way for the pre-screening exercise once it has been announced.
You need the following for the pre-screening exercise
- -SSCE result and JAMB registration print out only.

In the second phase of the screening which is done after the admission list might have been released, candidate who have merited the admission are to come with the following documents based on invitation. The documents are:
- Original copies of their educational qualifications (Statements of Results/Certificates).
- N/B: Cases of awaiting results will NOT be accepted.
- Birth Certification/Age Declaration.
- A letter of good conduct from your Village Head or a responsible member of your
- Community/or civil servant not below Grade Level 10 or equivalent in the private sector.
- Certificate of Local Government of origin; and this notification of admission status
