“The Giant of Africa” as Nigeria is called is known to possess a lot of mineral resources. Such resources include cocoa, cotton, oil etc. Nigerians are known to be business-inclined people and in the oil and gas sector, a few individuals have invested and gained a lot of profit thereby making a name in the country. Some of these individuals are Akilo Dangote, Wale Tinubu, Femi Otedola and without any iota of doubt, Ifeanyi Ubah, and others. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah better known as Ifeanyi Ubah is a Nigerian business mogul, a politician and an Entrepreneur. He was born on the 3rd of September, 1971 in Otolo, Nnewi, Anambra State where he is from. He is into Oil and gas investments.

Background/Early life and Education

Ifeanyi Ubah was born to his parents Mr. and Mrs. Alphonsus Ubah of Umuanuka in Otolo, Nnewi, Anambra State. Both parents were in the educational sector as teachers thus he was properly trained (i.e., had functional basic education). His parents instilled in their children including Ifeanyi the fear of God, honesty, hard work, perseverance among other virtues.

Being the first child of his parents, he had his primary education at the Okongwu Memorial Grammar School, (OMGS), Nnewi, Anambra State. Although his parents were not financially capable they struggled to ensure he had proper education. As the child of his parents, he was challenged to take up some of the responsibility of his family and assist his parents. This, therefore, made Ifeanyi leave school and become an apprentice as it was done in his time.

Business Career

Not long after Ifeanyi left school and started his apprenticeship, fate eventually smiled at him as he became successful in his business. At the young age of sixteen(16),three years after , he wasn’t an apprentice again instead he became an auto spare part dealer that exported tyres and spare parts to neighboring African countries like Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone and the DRC. He became a millionaire by this time.

Ifeanyi wasn’t satisfied with the countries he was dealing with so remembering what his parents taught him about the fear of God,

Honesty, hard work, perseverance and wanting to succeed, he decided to expand the tentacles of his business by exporting spare parts to other countries of the world. As at that time Sierra Leone which was a major spot of his business became a dead zone because of the war thus forcing him to come back to his country; Nigeria.

This didn’t kill his dream and thirst to succeed thus he went back to the drawing board and made new business plans and eventually he became one of the big names in the business industries in Nigeria.

Opportunities, they say comes once. Ifeanyi made good of these opportunities by attending trade fairs, exhibitions and displays by top auto manufacturers in the world like the United States of America. An example of such trade fair is the Automotive Industry Week, in Las Vegas which he attended. He also participated in the Automechanika in Frankfurt, Germany.

Apart from African that Ifeanyi was based and operating in, he decided to take the risks by establishing his businesses in countries like the United Kingdom, Belgium, South Africa, Dubai in the United Arab Emirates bug to mention a few.

This eventually opened doors as top companies invested in his business, some of these companies that invested in his business include: AE, Payen, Kolben Co., and Anglo American Industrial Co-Operation, in South Africa. In Europe, Belgolaise (Brussels), Belgium and AE Automotive (Leeds) United Kingdom.

Career: Oil and Gas

Ifeanyi Ubah amassed a lot of wealth of the years in business and decided to venture in the oil and gas industry. This made him to start his company with the name ‘Capital Oil’.

Capital Oil was established in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the place he used to run his oil and gas business. He had a relationship with already big oil and gas firm in Ibeto Petrochemical Nigeria Limited. They provided the means by which he could buy products for his company Capital Oil to where he supplied to his clients which included the government.

War and chaos broke out in the Democratic Republic of Congo; this made Ifeanyi Ubah leave to Nigeria where he set up a new base.

His base in Nigerian eventually became the strongholds of his business and has since become the biggest in the country. It has a capacity of between 3-6 vessels at the same time and has thirty-two loading arms.

Career: Capital Oil


Capital Oil currently distributes petroleum products in Nigeria. It has four (4) large depots in four out of the six geo-political zones of the country making it the reason for over 30% distribution on a daily basis all over Nigeria. His business currently has branches and offices in the United Kingdom, Dubai, Belgium and in South Africa. He is currently employs over 3000 people and creates over a thousand job opportunities.


Political Career


Ifeanyi Ubah has tried his hands into politics. In 2014, under the platform of the Labor Party, he ran for the seat of the Governor of Anambra but lost unfortunately.


Personal Life


Ifeanyi is happily married to Mrs. Uchenna Ubah. Just like her husband, she is a business administrator. Their marriage is happily blessed with five children.


Current Investments


Ifeanyi Ubah owns the ‘Ifeanyi Ubah Foundation. He has ventured and invested into all kinds of business some of which are telecommunication, properties and real estate, hospitals and financial bodies. He also owns ’Ifeanyi Ubah Football Club’ which are actively involved in the Nigerian Premier League.


Apart from being the chairman of his company; Capital Oil, he is also the chairman, board of directors in other top companies which include:

He owns a Nigerian newspaper with the name Authority Newspaper.
