Olamide Adedeji better known as “Olamide” or “Badoo” as he chooses to address himself is a Nigerian indigenous rapper gone international. He is a sensational singer, recording artist, songwriter, and entertainer. He renders his music mostly in his local dialect “Yoruba” with a blend of English.

“Badoo” grew up in a slum neighborhood of Lagos mainland in an area known as Bariga, from where he derived his music orientation and which greatly influenced his musical career. Olamide regards himself as the, “King of The Street” as far as the Nigerian music industry is concerned. His sources of wealth include sales of music, promotions, endorsements, his record label (YBNL), and business.

Birth and Early Life

Olamide was born on the 15th of March, 1989 in Bariga, Lagos state where he comes from. He had both his Primary and Secondary Education in Lagos state before proceeding to Tai Solarin University Of Education In Ijebu, Ogun State, Nigeria for his University education where he studied Mass Communication. His initial dream was to be footballer but later switched to music which he also had passion for.

Music Career

Olamide was initially signed to Coded Tunes owned by ID Cabasa’s and had Toni Payne as his manager. From Coded Tunes, he launched his debut album titled, “Rapsodi” in 2011 which had as it’s hit track “Eni duro”. The track would later top the music charts across several Radio and Television stations, and other media houses in the country.

In 2012, he exited Coded Tunes to start his own record label, YBNL Nation where he released his second album titled “YBNL” according to the name of the record label. The album featured Davido, Tiwa Savage, Reminisce, and Dammy Krane. Signees to the label include Lil Kesh, Adekunle Gold, Victoh, Davolee, etc.

In the years that followed, Olamide continued to produce several other albums, win several awards and perform both locally and internationally. In 2014, he began the OLIC (Olamide Live In Concert) show. This show has been phenomenal such that most of the times, the show’s tickets get exhausted prior to the event’s date. Olamide has a mansion at Lekki, Lagos state which is worth N38 million. It is also rumored that the artist owns two filling stations aside other assets and a chain of investments in Lagos state. Hence, aside from music, Olamide makes money from entrepreneurship and business too. He owns a Land Range Rover and a Hummer Jeep.

Olamide’s Endorsement Deals and Net worth

Olamide makes most of his money from the sales of music, music promotions, awards, deals and endorsements, his record label (YBNL), business and investments. Olamide, on 17, July 2013 got an endorsement deal with Ciroc, a United States based liquor company which was worth over N30Million, hence becoming the first Nigerian to get that deal.

That same year, he got a deal with Guiness as the company’s brand ambassador which was worth about N80m, where he graced the much popular “Guiness Made Of Black” campaign. Still that same year, he got an endorsement deal with Telecom giant, Etisalat and it was worth N50m. He recently renewed this deal which fetched him an additional N30Million plus the initial sign on fee.

In 2017, Olamide got an ambassadorship deal with Sterling bank plc. Olamide is said to charge between N2m and N4m for shows and about N300, 000 for organized events and concert. Olamide’s current Net worth is thus estimated at between $7.5m and $12million as at this 2019.
