Yusuf Maitama Sule University Kano, formerly Northwest University Kano is a Kano State Government-owned university with a temporary campus located at the center of the city of Kano and a main campus located along Gwarzo Road. It is one of the universities established in Nigeria in 2012 which are overseen and accredited by the NUC National Universities Commission.
The Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano was established in 2012 by the administration of Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso by way of promoting and enhancing the country’s-old prominence of the North-West as both cynosure and pacesetter in the fields of learning and scholarship not only in West Africa, but throughout the continent and beyond. The Northwest temporary building was built by Techno Katagum Construction company ltd.it was initially built as a commercial building by the kano state government,during the regime of Alhaji Abubakar Rimi.
The management of the Northwest University (NWU), Kano (now Yusuf Maitama Sule University Kano) has released the first batch admission list for the 2020/2021 academic session. Candidates that participated in the Yusuf Maitama Sule University Kano admission screening exercise can now check their admission status online.

The under-listed candidates have been offered Provisional Admission for Degree Programmes into Northwest University (NWU), Kano (now Yusuf Maitama Sule University Kano) for the 2020/2021 Academic Session.
Successfully admitted candidates should login to the JAMB website to either ACCEPT or REJECT the offer — How to Reject/Accept Your Admission on JAMB CAPS.

- Go jamb.org.ng/efacility.
- Login to your Jamb profile with your username and password.
- Scroll down then locate and click the ‘Check Admission Status‘ tab.
- Select your Exam year and Enter your registration number in the required columns.
- Finally, click on ‘Check Admission Status‘ to access your NWU admission status.
