Cut off mark is the mark set by the authority or board that conducts an exam, which is considered as the passing or clearing level of the exam.
Based on cut off mark, candidates are shortlisted for the further stages of selection process.
Cut off varies for different exams, it varies with availability of vacancies and competition level.
Here is an example to illustrate what a cut of mark is.
If there are ten persons writing an exam to become a clerk in a bank but the total Vacancy is 2, so the bank needs to eliminate some candidates and retain few for next level of selection say interview, so they put up a cut off which is probably an above average mark for the exam conducted thus eliminating few low scorers and selecting others for next level. Official FCEZARIA Cut Off Mark 2020
The official JAMB and Post-UTME cut off mark for FCEZARIA is 180. Following the scrapping of Post-UTME by federal government, the Joints Admission and Matriculation board (JAMB) had given a bench mark of 180 and above for candidates applying for Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges of Education. For this reason, FCEZARIA has followed suit to place their cut off mark at 180.
But the question that might be bordering you remains: what about those that had 180 and above but were not still given the admission to study their desired courses?
You have to know this; candidates with higher scores are first considered; in admission basics, candidates with lower scores though might meet the cut off mark of 180 may likely not be admitted. In fact, it is the higher your scores, the higher the chance of being admitted.
FCEZARIA Departmental Cut-off Mark 2020
Most Universities, including the Federal College of Education Zaria, FCEZARIA does not really have a specific cut off mark for courses. Nevertheless, prospective candidates who have scored a minimum of 180 in UTME examination are deem eligible to apply for admission for any of their choice courses.
- All Engineering courses – 200 and above in jamb and 60% in post UTME
- All Basic medical sciences courses 180 and above in jamb and 50% and above in post UTME
- Professional and highly competitive courses – Law, medicine and surgeon, pharmacy 240 and above in jamb and 85% and above in post UTME
- All Agricultural and educational courses is 120 – 180 in some institution and 20% and above in post UTME
- All courses in other faculties like Art, commercial, physical and natural sciences are 180 and above in JAMB and 40% in post UTME.
Mode Of Admission Screening In FCEZARIA 2020/2021-Admission Requirements
1. Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE)
i). GCE O/L or SSCE (WAEC OR NECO) with passes in at least five (5) subjects in one sitting, three of which must be at credit level;
ii). GCE O/L or SSCE (WAEC OR NECO) with passes in at least five (5) subjects in two sittings, four of which must be at credit level;
iii). Grade II Teachers Certificate (TC II) / Higher Islamic Studies (SISC) with credit or Merit in three (3) subjects, two of which must be relevant to the course the candidate wishes to study;
iv). R.S.A. or City and Guides Intermediate Certificate or the Federal Craft Training Certificate;
v) Associate Certificate in Education awarded by an approved institution in Nigeria or Aboard;
vi) Credits in English and /or Mathematics may be required in some courses;
vii). Successful candidates in the Pre-NCE, (Languages or Sciences), Final Examination, who also take and succeed in a selection examination organized by an accredited body, would also be qualified for admission;
viii). The College may, in addition to all the above, administer its own qualifying elimination tests and / or interviews for some courses, e.g. Physical and Health education.
2. Pre-NCE Programme
i). SC / GCE (OL) or SSCE (WAEC OR NECO)with four (4) passes at a sitting or five (5) passes at two sitting including English Language and Mathematics and passes in related subjects.
ii). TC II Certificate with passes.
iii) Other relevant or equivalent qualification with four (4) passes at a sitting or five (5) passes at two sitting and passes in related subject- i.e. City and Guilds, Federal Craft Certificate, etc.
3 Remedial Programme
i). GCE (O/L) or SSCE (WAEC OR NECO) with two (2) passes
ii) TC II with at least two (2) passes
iii). Federal Craft Certificate or City and Guilds with at least two (2) passes.
4 Professional Diploma in Education Programme
Interested applicants must have one of the followings:
i). National Diploma (ND) or Higher National Diploma (HND)
